GRANTS ARE DISBURSED ON A QUARTERLY BASIS BEGINNING SUMMER OF 2021
our goal
Every quarter, beginning summer of 2021, Stone Fruit Grdn will award 2 grants, amounts to be determined. One grant will be designated for artists and creatives, the other will be for small business owners (not limited to, but preferably in the arts). Our monetary goal is for each grant is $2.5k, a total of $20k yearly. A difficult price point in the first year but with the right focus, stability and help, it's our year two goal. Unlike many other grant givers, our stipulations will be loose and not dependent upon the completion of an upcoming project. We’re intentionally creating a simpler process because times are stressful and uncertain and we want as wide of a creative group as we can reach. The source of the funding for this initiative will come from a portion of all of our studio endeavors: the market, our monthly subscription box, design projects, and of course donations.
Our Indie Arts Initiative is also focused on creating and finding opportunities for artists and designers. Collaborative projects will be created with excess initiative funds and used to create stipends for artists whose proposals are chosen. Aside from directly generated funds and opportunities, we keep a running list of job and project openings from other studios on our opportunities page. As well as an active listing of grants and other funding offered by other institutions on our resources page.
why we started
the indie arts initiative is based on two central ideas
1
THERE'S NEVER ENOUGH FUNDING OR ENOUGH OPPORTUNITIES
So we decided to form a sort of patron network to generate continual funding and build partnerships to serve artists and designers directly.
BREAKING DOWN THE OUTDATED IDEA OF ARTIST VS DESIGNER
Traditional vs digital, studio vs applied. This misconception has limited the amount of spaces that showcase the harmony of the two, so we built a space.
